This step will infuse the meat with a savory taste that will complement the sweetness of the Coca-Cola.
Step 2: Fry the Chicken Wings
Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the marinated chicken wings. Allow them to fry until they turn a slight golden brown color. This initial frying process helps seal in the juices, ensuring the chicken remains moist and tender throughout the cooking process.
Step 3: Prepare the Sauce
Next, it’s time to create the delightful sauce that will elevate your Coca-Cola chicken to a whole new level of deliciousness. In a wok or large pan, combine Coca-Cola, oyster sauce, minced garlic, chopped onion, a pinch of salt and pepper, and a dollop of ketchup. These ingredients will work together to create a savory and slightly sweet glaze that coats the chicken perfectly.
Step 4: Cook and Glaze the Chicken
Add the partially fried chicken pieces to the sauce in the wok or pan. Cook the chicken on medium heat, making sure to turn the pieces often. Initially, the mixture may not look very appealing, but don’t worry, it will transform into a mouthwatering glaze as it cooks. Keep a close eye on the chicken as the liquid evaporates, as it can burn easily if left unattended.
Step 5: Serve and Garnish
Once most of the liquid has evaporated, and the sauce has thickened to create a beautiful glaze, your chicken is ready to be served. Transfer the chicken to a serving platter and garnish it with fresh lettuce and sliced cucumber. Notes
Cooking Tips for Coca cola Chicken:
- Marinate for Maximum Flavor: To enhance the flavor of your Coca-Cola chicken, allow the chicken to marinate in the soy sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking. This will allow the meat to absorb the savory flavors of the sauce, resulting in a more delicious and tender dish. For even better results, marinate the chicken overnight in the refrigerator for a deeper infusion of flavors.
- Adjust the Sweetness: While Coca-Cola adds a natural sweetness to the dish, you can customize the level of sweetness to suit your taste preferences. If you prefer a sweeter glaze, you can add a bit more Coca-Cola to the sauce during the cooking process. On the other hand, if you prefer a less sweet flavor, reduce the amount of Coca-Cola and balance it with additional soy sauce or other savory ingredients like Worcestershire sauce.
- Watch the Cooking Time and Temperature: It's important to closely monitor the cooking time and temperature to avoid overcooking or burning the chicken. As the liquid evaporates and forms a glaze, the chicken can quickly go from perfectly cooked to burnt if left unattended. Keep the heat at medium to prevent the glaze from burning too quickly. Towards the end of the cooking process, reduce the heat slightly and continue turning the chicken pieces frequently to ensure they are evenly coated and cooked until most of the liquid is gone.

Josie
I tried this with chicken thighs and it was absolutely delicious. I can’t believe it was so easy to make and yet so yummy. I’m going to make it again with wings and drumsticks. I think it’s going to be added to our regular menu of dinners from now on.
