A very simple chicken dish with vegetables and gravy. You don’t need to fry the chicken to enjoy the gravy with the chicken. One good thing about this dish is it is healthy because you don’t need to fry the chicken because it is boiled. Baking or roasting is somewhat laborious just to cook the chicken. The veggies also need few minutes of cooking in order to enjoy its crunchy texture and to retain its vitamins and minerals.
To cook the chicken; Cut chicken into serving pieces, place in a pan. Add onion, MSG, pepper and salt. Add water enough to cover chicken. Cover. Cook until tender. Drain and set aside broth. Cook the vegetables in chicken broth. Cabbage and stringbeanss should be only half-cooked. Arrange vegetable in dish with the boiled chicken. Top with gravy.
- 1 kilo dressed chicken (or your choice parts)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 Tbsp. MSG or granulated seasoning
- ½ tsp. ground pepper
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- ¼ kilo cabbage (cut into half)
- 2 potatoes (cut into half)
- 8-10 pcs stringbeans
- 1 carrot (cut into thick strips)
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1½ cup chicken broth
- ½ cup evaporated milk
- ¼ tsp. ground pepper
- 1 tsp. Msg
- salt to taste
- Cut chicken into serving pieces, place in a pan. Add onion, MSG, pepper and salt.
- Add water enough to cover chicken. Cover. Cook until tender.
- Drain and set aside broth. Cook the vegetables in chicken broth.
- Cabbage and stringbeanss should be only half-cooked. Arrange vegetable in dish with the boiled chicken. Top with gravy.
- Melt butter in low fire. Add flour, stir until thoroughly blended. Gradually add chicken broth while stirring continuously.
- Season with MSG, pepper and salt. Lastly add milk. You may also add ¼ cup sweet peas or chopped mushrooms.
