Cooking Tips for Perfect Garlic Pepper Steak

1. Selecting the Perfect Cut:
For a delectable Garlic Pepper Steak, the beef cut is paramount. Ribeye, sirloin, or tenderloin are excellent choices, renowned for their tenderness and ability to absorb flavors beautifully. However, if you opt for a tougher cut, consider marinating it longer to tenderize the meat.
2. Searing to Perfection:
Achieving a gorgeous sear on your beef is crucial. First, ensure the pan is sizzling hot before adding the meat. A hot pan allows for optimal caramelization, sealing in juices and flavor. Second, avoid overcrowding the pan, as this can lead to steaming rather than searing. Cook the beef in batches if needed. Lastly, pat the beef dry with paper towels before adding it to the pan, as excess moisture can hinder proper searing.
3. Crafting a Balanced Gravy:
The gravy is the star of Garlic Pepper Steak. To achieve a harmonious gravy:
  • Adjust the consistency as needed. If the gravy becomes too thick, simply add a bit more water until it reaches the desired thickness. Conversely, if it's too thin, whisk in a slurry of cornstarch and water to thicken it.
  • Season with finesse. Taste the gravy as you season it with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Start with a small amount, as you can always add more later. Over-seasoning can be challenging to rectify, so it's better to be cautious initially.
  • Permit a brief simmering period: After incorporating the desired seasonings, allow the gravy mixture to gently simmer for a short duration. This technique harmonizes the flavors and guarantees an even distribution of the spice components throughout the liquid.
