How to Cook Beef Picadillo

Picadillo is a Spanish dish that have many versions depending on the country where there has been a Spanish influence like Cuba, Latin America and of course our homeland.
  • ½ kilo beef brisket, cut into ½ inch cubes (or ground beef)
  • ¾ kilo very ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 5 medium potatoes, cut into ½ inch cubes
  • 6 small cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 medium onion, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste

How to cook Beef Picadillo:
  1. In a casserole, sauté garlic, onion and tomatoes.
  2. Cook until tomatoes are very soft. Add the meat and about 8 cups water.
  3. Simmer until meat is almost tender. Add cubed potatoes.
  4. Continue cooking till potatoes are done. Season with salt.
