How to Cook Chicken with Vegetables and Gravy

  • 1 kilo dressed chicken (or your choice parts)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. MSG or granulated seasoning
  • ½ tsp. ground pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
For the vegetables:
  • ¼ kilo cabbage (cut into half)
  • 2 potatoes (cut into half)
  • 8-10 pcs stringbeans
  • 1 carrot (cut into thick strips)
For the gravy:
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • ¼ tsp. ground pepper
  • 1 tsp. Msg
  • salt to taste

How to cook the chicken:
  1. Cut chicken into serving pieces, place in a pan. Add onion, MSG, pepper and salt.
  2. Add water enough to cover chicken. Cover. Cook until tender.
  3. Drain and set aside broth. Cook the vegetables in chicken broth.
  4. Cabbage and stringbeanss should be only half-cooked. Arrange vegetable in dish with the boiled chicken. Top with gravy.
To make the gravy:
  1. Melt butter in low fire. Add flour, stir until thoroughly blended. Gradually add chicken broth while stirring continuously.
  2. Season with MSG, pepper and salt. Lastly add milk. You may also add ¼ cup sweet peas or chopped mushrooms.
